Coastal Family Day Care was established in April 1986 and predominantly covers a large part of the North West Coast, extending from Latrobe to Circular Head, including the West Coast and King Island. The Scheme is a community based, non-profit organisation. A Board of Governance is responsible to oversee the administration and governance of the Scheme. The Board includes representation from the community, educators, parents and early childhood professionals. This broad representation gives balance and perspective to views expressed and decisions made.
The Board of Governance meets monthly with minutes being recorded. The financial year for the Scheme runs from July to June with the Annual General Meeting being held in August each year. The Scheme Manager reports to each meeting.
The financial position of the Scheme is reported at each meeting with a Scheme audit required prior to the AGM. The Scheme Auditor is Lovell Morrison.
All Scheme minutes and financial statements are available on request to educators and registered families.
The Scheme is managed by a Co-ordination Unit. This is staffed by experienced professionals who monitor and support the provision of a quality service.
Scheme staff offer assistance and support to carers and parents in the form of playgroups, training, resources, professional advice, referrals and regular educator home visits.
