Coastal Family Day Care was established in April 1986 and predominantly covers a large part of the North West Coast, extending from Latrobe to Circular Head, including the West Coast and King Island.

The Scheme is a community based, non-profit organisation. A Board of Governance is responsible to oversee the administration and governance of the Scheme. The Board includes representation from the community, educators, parents and early childhood professionals. This broad representation gives balance and perspective to views expressed and decisions made.

The Board of Governance meets monthly with minutes being recorded. The financial year for the Scheme runs from July to June with the Annual General Meeting being held in August each year. The Scheme Manager reports to each meeting.

The financial position of the Scheme is reported at each meeting with a Scheme audit required prior to the AGM. The Scheme Auditor is Lovell Morrison.

All Scheme minutes and financial statements are available on request to educators and registered families.

Co-ordination Unit

The Scheme is managed by a Co-ordination Unit. This is staffed by experienced professionals who monitor and support the provision of a quality service.

Scheme staff offer assistance and support to carers and parents in the form of playgroups, training, resources, professional advice, referrals and regular educator home visits.

Lynn Templar Scheme Manager

Lynn has been working with children since the early 1980's including 3 years as an educator with the Coastal Family Day Care Scheme, co-ordinating After School Care & Vacation Care programmes and also as a Validator for the National Childcare Accreditation Council in Outside School Hours Care.  In 2006 Lynn rejoined the Scheme as a fieldworker and in 2011 was appointed to the position of Program Co-ordinator. In 2013, Lynn was appointed Scheme Manager.  Lynn's current role involves new educator registration, management of human resources and compliance.  Lynn has an Advanced Diploma in Children's Services and a Certificate IV in Training & Education, and a Diploma of Human Resources Management and Diploma of Management

Gillian Wright Field Co-ordinator

Gillian started with the co-ordination unit in November 2012.  Prior to this Gillian had extensive experience in working with children with additional needs, most recently at the Autism Centre.  Gillian has completed her Diploma in Children's Services and her current role involves supporting educators through fieldwork, planning and conducting activity sessions.

Carolyn Bakes Field Co-ordinator

Carolyn commenced her career in early childhood education in 2007 as an educator with Coastal Family Day Care Scheme, where she found her passion for working with children.  She has completed her Diploma in Children's Services.  Carolyn is particularly talented in utilising resources to create effective play and learning environments for children.  In April 2011 Carolyn joined the co-ordination unit as a field co-ordinator and her role involves re-registration of educators and fieldwork.

Catherine Johnston Senior Administration Officer

Catherine started at Coastal Family Day Care in 2002 with a background in administration. Her current role is varied but primarily involves maintenance of the Scheme's accounts, staff payroll, budgets, general administration and overseeing all duties of the administration team.

Catherine has also completed Certificate IV in Business Administration.

Jan Viney CCB & Placements Officer

Jan has been with Coastal Family Day Care since 2005 and is responsible for the processing of the child attendance records, payment of the families' Child Care Benefit, facilitating the placement and post-placement of children in family day care and processing family registration paperwork.

Jan has also completed her Certificate IV in Business Administration.
